Watches: add, edit, archive
A watch is a saved query that Trademark Sentinel runs on a recurring schedule against the trademark sources you have enabled. Each scan compares newly published marks against your watch criteria and produces an alert for every potential conflict.
Watch fields
When you create or edit a watch, you fill in:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Human-readable label (e.g. Acme — sneakers EU). Used in alert subject lines. |
| Nice classes | One or more goods/services classes (e.g. 25, 35). At least one is required. |
| Designations | Jurisdictions you want covered (Madrid System designations such as EM, US, GB). Leave empty to match all designations. |
| Scan cadence | How often the watch runs. Free and Solo tiers are fixed at daily; Team and Enterprise can switch to hourly. |
| Sources | Which trademark sources to query. The MVP ships with the global trademark database only. |
Per-tier quotas
The number of watches and the available scan cadence are tied to your subscription tier:
| Tier | Max watches | Scan cadence | Real-time alerts | API | Multi-client groups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 | daily | no (digest only) | no | no |
| Solo | 25 | daily | yes | no | no |
| Team | unlimited | hourly | yes | yes | yes |
| Enterprise | unlimited | hourly | yes | yes | SSO + SLA |
If you hit the watch limit on your tier, the Add watch button is disabled and the dashboard shows an Upgrade prompt that links to Billing. See Plan tiers and entitlements for the full breakdown.
Editing a watch
Open a watch from the dashboard list and click Edit. You can change any field except the creation timestamp. Saving the form takes effect on the next scheduled scan — in-flight scans complete against the previous criteria.
Changing Sources or Nice classes can change the volume of alerts you receive. The Edit form previews the estimated daily alert volume based on the last 30 days of trademark publications matching the new criteria.
Archiving a watch
Watches you no longer need can be archived from the watch detail page (… menu → Archive). Archiving:
- Stops scheduled scans for that watch immediately.
- Preserves all historical alerts, which remain readable from the alerts inbox.
- Frees a slot against your tier’s Max watches quota.
- Is reversible — Restore re-enables scans on the next cadence tick.
Archived watches do not count toward your quota and are not deleted. To delete a watch and its history permanently, contact support.
